Known Issues
When I get the tractor above 20 RPM while running the PTO there’s what smells like diesel /oil mix running out of the area shown. It gets so bad it sprays all over the ground, exhaust and me. You can see it on the tractor. Looking for suggestions on where to start to find the issue and fix the problem. How bad is it? Thanks in advance!
I recently bought a 1978ish John Deere 2040. One thing I've noticed is that the 3 point hitch doesn't lower down enough to easily hook up implements, and can be raised high enough that I'm concerned about damaging the pto shaft. I think the rockshaft arms need to be adjusted--it's clear that they have room to go lower. Just curious to know how hard a job that is and is this a common issue with the 2040.
Hello all! When my grandfather passed away, he left me his John Deere tractor. Unfortunately, what he didn't do was take good care of it, or keep his paperwork in order. So here I am, trying to do what should be minor repairs, without any form of manual or schematics. What I'm looking for specifically is a wiring diagram for the thing that doesn't cost me and arm and a leg, (preferably free) so I can get this thing going again! Help?
