This recall involves 1023E, 1025R and 2025R Compact Utility Tractors with the model number and "John Deere" printed on the hood. The recalled tractors are green and yellow, and were sold with both opened and closed operator stations. The serial numbers of tractors included in this recall can be found at www.deere.com. Click on "Parts & Service" and scroll to "Recall" or go to www.deere.com/en/parts-and-service/recall-information/. The serial number is located on the frame, on the front right side of the tractor, near the engine.
Known Issues
New 2015 D140 lawn tractor stalls immediately when PTO is engaged, preventing grass cutting. Issue occurred within 15 minutes of operation. John Deere customer support and dealer unable to provide troubleshooting guidance.
Steering gear and sector require replacement every year after 6 years of ownership, indicating premature wear or design defect.
John Deere D140 burned to the ground in warranty. John Deere will not cover it and said it was probably dirty. It appears to be a fire that started around the coil. $2000 for this thing and it has 18.2 hours on it. Deere rep said it's my responsibility to prove the fire was their fault.
