Capitalizing tractor repairs to calculate per bale cost

We just had to do some repairs to our tractor's (old Ford 5030) hydraulics prior to this season's haying (small horse farm). I am trying to figure out our actual per bale cost and want to apply a portion of the repair costs each year going forward. What is a reasonable number of years to use to make this calculation in your opinion? (Not sure how much life the tractor has left).

Next to the PTO engagement lever on the left side (next to/under the seat) there is a tube that looks like it should house a dipstick, but there is nothing there. Am I missing the stick or is this something else?
