Hydraulic leak

Purchased an MF1526 Tractor in July 2024 and experienced a hydraulic control valve leak within two weeks. Despite four repair attempts over five months, the issue persisted. The authorized dealer closed unexpectedly, leaving the nearest service location over 110 miles away. The tractor was transported there twice, and a mechanic also visited the home twice for repairs—all unsuccessful. After ei...

Massey 4609M / 936x control valve cap replacement
low

So. This will be out of order. I have a 2016 4609M massey tractor with the 936x loader. Factory joystick. I noticed that the bucket curl function would stick in dump position. I investigated and found that when the joystick was pulled all the way left, the control valve would not be fully pushed in (unlike if you pushed the joystick forward the lift control valve would) I played with the cable and that did nothing other than set the rest position of the joystick in and out. Good to know for ergonomics. So i took the steps and shielding off and discovered that the valve caps were very very corroded. I don’t know why. It’s near the DEF system, and DEF is corrosive but I didn’t find leaks. The caps are held on with Philips head bolts. Wtf. Terrible idea. They stripped as I expected. I used a bolt extractor to remove the bolts. In the process of removing the cap I idiotically broke the joystick cable ($161 mistake and a drive). The cap had a hole and so inside had corroded. It would be day’s later when I figured out how the cap wasn’t a singular piece but instead an upper spring and a detent spring. I went to the parts counter and they couldn’t figure out the part number. They found the short cap, but they couldn’t find my long cap so they offered the whole valve assembly for $1200 (no thanks). I decided to remove the other cover to understand what the problem was. That is when I figured out that this was a compound assembly. Back to google and the online agco catalog. That’s when i started searching older models and one size up/one size down. Finally in the 2013 4610 catalog I found it. The website is actually pretty good and I was able to order online. $250 for a bunch of parts. It will be good as new soon. Just in time for snow clearing season. While i wait i put a hydraulic oil bucket lid over the hole. I took the loader off. At least i can still use the tractor to mow.

Hesston 4600 inline bailer - rails question
low

Alright, this is my 2nd question of the week rebuilding this thing. Thanks for other replies all! Having a lot of fun rebuilding this baler and feel pretty good about what I've got for the price. Question:What sort of metal do we think that is? "Hardened rail" they call it in the manual - do we think that's code for more than just cold-rolled steel? That is part #1 pictured below. Call those parts #1, #2, #3 and #4 in order left to right. 1st pic is of parts, 2nd pic is showing the top rail removed (where the parts came from on the chamber). Gotta replace Part #1. Need an additional part #2 (shim, easy peasy here, no advice needed). Part #3, already ordered cause it's split/broke. Both part, and #1 and #4 they (Agco) want $200 a piece. Seems crazy. https://preview.redd.it/bngrlsxf3nc91.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a162315d76904586eeb964b5707239139932982e https://preview.redd.it/ch12stxf3nc91.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a1f4a3694fd9736dd41878e06c0e42622e1c2fc
